Alien vs. Predator 2004 Movie explained

During the Alien vs. Predator takes place in 2004 on Earth. Satellites on Earth notice an enigmatic heat bloom beneath the ice of the island Bouvetya near Antarctica as a Predator spacecraft approaches the planet. Charles Bishop Weyland, a multibillionaire, gathers a team of scientists to investigate the heat source and claim it for his Weyland Industries, a global communications company (foreshadowing the Weyland-Yutani Corporation of the Alien film series). Paleontologists, archaeologists, linguists, drillers, mercenaries, Alexa "Lex" Woods, a "rough and tumble" female guide, Weyland himself, and Sebastian, a down-on-his-luck archaeologist, make up the team. Wayland's inform the group that the heat bloom's 3-D construction depicts a pyramid with characteristics from almost every pyramid culture. Weyland tries to leave after Lex says it will take three weeks to properly train everyone; Sebastian convinces her to stay after she rejects this. As the Predator spacecraft enters Earth orbit, it fires a shaft through the ice in the direction of the heat bloom's origin. The human team locates the shaft and descends beneath the ice when they reach the abandoned whaling station site above the heat source. The pyramid is found there, and as they explore it, they find what appears to be a "sacrificial chamber" filled with human skeletons with ruptured rib cages as well as evidence of a civilization that predates written history. Unbeknownst to the humans, their arrival has caused an alien queen to awaken from cryogenic stasis, be bound in chains, and be subjected to torture in order to start producing eggs. The team descends to a lower level where they find a sarcophagus with an Aztec calendar combination lock set for 1904, the year the whaling station was abandoned. Three Predator plasma cannons are revealed when Sebastian sets the lock to the current time. As the team is removing the weapons from the casket unknowingly trapping several humans in the "sacrificial chamber," three Predator warriors—Chopper, Scar, and Celtic—land and kill the humans on the surface. They then descend to the pyramid. Alien eggs appeared through trap doors, hatched into facehuggers, and quickly attached themselves to the humans. Chestbursters quickly leave the humans and develop into adult Aliens. They attempt to leave the pyramid after Lex's party notices the screams of their colleges. The three Predator soon begin to attack them in order to recover their stolen cannons, and several of them are killed. Given that the Aztec calendar shifts abruptly every ten minutes, it separates them from one another and turns the corridor of the pyramid into a maze. The only mercenaries who managed to escape the maze were Lex, Sebastian, and Weyland; the other mercenaries were taken prisoner by the aliens. The remaining mercenaries are killed by the Predators, who also capture the final three humans, all at once. One alien enters the scene and quickly dispatches Chopper, a Predator. While Lex and the others flee, the Celtic, the second Predator, engages in combat with the monster. The Predator puts up a good fight, cutting off its tail, surviving its acid blood, and getting caught in a self-tightening net, all of which cause it serious injuries, but it still manages to kill the Predator with its inner mouth. The sole Predator (Scar) is pursuing Lex and the other as they continue to make an attempt to flee. Scar uses his helmet to see inside Weyland's body and discovers that he is terminally ill with advanced lung cancer. Despite his best efforts, Weyland is easily defeated. Weyland uses his inhaler and a flare to try to set the Predator on fire while it is attempting to chase after Lex and Sebastian after sparing him. The Predator kills him with his wrist blades, unfazed and furious. While Scar murders an alien and a facehugger, Lex and Sebastian are able to escape in a locked chamber. It removes its helmet as Lex and Sebastian watch through a hole in the wall, marking its face and helmet with the acidic blood of the alien. Sebastian deciphers the plot. They turn their heads just before a facehugger conceives Scar. The explorers discover that the Predators are a "warrior race" that has been visiting Earth for thousands of years through translation of the hieroglyphs on the pyramids. The Sumerians, Egyptians, Mayans, Thai, and Khmer, among other early human civilizations, learned how to build pyramids from them, and humans revered them as gods. Every century, they would come to Earth to participate in a rite of passage wherein a number of people would give themselves up as hosts for the aliens (known as serpents), becoming the "ultimate prey" for the predators to hunt. When outnumbered, the Predators would launch their nuclear self-destruct weapons, wiping out the alien races along with themselves. They conclude that the current Predators are present in order to once more hunt the aliens. The survivors also claim that the weapons found in the casket were the heat-emitting radiation from the pyramid that was used to attract humans in order to create new aliens to hunt. Sebastian hesitates, but realizes the Predators must be allowed to succeed in their hunt so that the Aliens do not spread to the rest of Earth. Lex decides to find the Predator and give him the weapons. While trying to search the Predator, Lex and Sebastian are attacked by an alien who is pursuing them to a collapsed bridge. While Sebastian successfully jumps across, Lex stumbles on some loose stones and is pulled up by Sebastian just in time for the Aliens to snatch her away. Scar confronts Lex as she flees the scene. He's about to attack when Lex stops him and hands his weapon back. Lex is suddenly attacked by another alien, who also knocks the Predator to the ground and then attacks her. However, Lex kills the alien by impaling it with the Predator's spear. When the Queen calls for them, the alien horde flees after being shot down by Scar using the energy weapon. Scar makes a shield out of the Predator's skull that is resistant to its acidic blood and a spear out of the dead Alien's tail for Lex to use as a weapon against the Predator. The other Aliens have been called by the Alien queen, who then begins to cut her, spitting her blood on her chains and corroding them. While this is happening, Lex and the Predator enter a room filled with Alien eggs, mercenaries' bodies, and resin secreted by the aliens. Sebastian begs Lex to kill him before it develops when Lex discovers that he has already been implanted with an embryo. Just as the chestburster is about to appear, Lex reluctantly agrees and shoots him. When one leaps at Scar, the latter catches it in midair and kills it by snapping its neck. By this point, the Queen has been released from her chains, detached her egg sack, and is charging through the pyramid with the intention of reaching the top. Scar senses the Queen's approach and uses its helmet to see that every egg in the room is about to hatch. He then follows the Queen. In order to destroy the pyramid, the Predator detaches and engages his self-destruct mechanism. As he and Lex flee, the Aliens pursue them and attack Scar's arm while they are on the run. However, Lex turns on the lift to the surface, and they ascend there before the bomb detonates, obliterating the pyramid and the aliens. After the whaling station collapses due to the blast, Lex and the Predator manage to flee. Scar takes off his helmet as a sign of trust, and Lex agrees to let him tattoo his clan's symbol on her cheek. The Alien queen suddenly appears from the ice and attacks them. Scar uses a throwing disc and a series of needles to cut off the creature's head and neck, but it knocks him to the ground with its tail instead. As it enters a burning shack, Lex stabs it with her spear. Enraged, the queen pursues Lex through the station's whale bone cemetery and out to the cliff's edge, where she is trapped under a water tower. After coming back, Scar releases Lex and ties the queen to the water tower after realizing the broken chains are still attached to the queen. But just as the queen is about to stab the Predator with its tail, the tower gets stuck. Lex frees the tower, sending it and the queen plummeting to the ocean floor. Scar however succumbs to his injuries. Several Predator warriors and a Predator ship appear out of nowhere. They gather their fallen comrade, and their leader (possibly their Clan Leader), decked out in a cape, full body armor covered in medals, and a spear that resembles a trident, recognizes Lex as one of their own after spotting the symbol on her right cheek and honors her by giving her his spear. The dead Predator releases a chestburster as they take off into space. It has the distinctive jaw mandibles of both predator and alien species, suggesting that it is a hybrid.
