The Meg movie explained
Professional diver Jonas Taylor (Jason Statham) attempts to save a group of divers from a submerged submarine in the opening scene. Some of them, including Dr. Heller (Robert Taylor), are successfully brought aboard by Jonas, but something soon begins violently attacking the sub. Due to this, Jonas is forced to decide—against Heller's objections—to abandon the submarine in order to avoid certain death.
