The Meg movie explained

Professional diver Jonas Taylor (Jason Statham) attempts to save a group of divers from a submerged submarine in the opening scene. Some of them, including Dr. Heller (Robert Taylor), are successfully brought aboard by Jonas, but something soon begins violently attacking the sub. Due to this, Jonas is forced to decide—against Heller's objections—to abandon the submarine in order to avoid certain death. They manage to flee in time for the unidentified force to sabotage the submarine and vanish. It's been five years. at the Chinese coast's Mana One underwater research facility. It is run by a team of scientists led by Jack Morris (Rainn Wilson) and Dr. Minway Zhang (Winston Chao), as well as Zhang's daughter Suyin (Bingbing Li), remote explorer DJ (Page Kennedy), Jaxx Herd (Ruby Rose), the aforementioned Dr. Haller, Mac (Cliff Curtis), Lori (Jessica McNamee), Toshi (Masi Oka), and "The. A small submarine driven by Lori, Tosh, and "The Wall" is being used in an experiment near the ocean floor to bypass a mysterious hydrogen and investigate what lies beneath. Everything appears to be going according to plan at first, but the trio is attacked and left stranded by a large, swift object, which causes them to lose contact with Mana One. Later, when they try to restore power, they are attacked once more, and Lori is hurt when a screwdriver is rammed into her stomach. After much deliberation, the rest of the crew decides to follow Mac's suggestion and ask Jonas for assistance in rescuing their trapped friends because of his prior success doing so in such a deep, perilous area of the ocean. Heller, on the other hand, is opposed to it because he believes Jonas is insane as a result of the terrifying event he went through five years ago and doesn't buy into his claims that a creature attacked him and the divers he was trying to save. Regardless, the plan is implemented. Unfortunately, Jonas has obviously seen better days because he can be seen frequently drinking in a Taiwanese bar and provoking the local boat owners who rely on him to fix their vessels. Jonas is reunited with Mac and Dr. Zhang in his room. At first, Jonas tries to get out of it by providing the two drinks and proactively rejecting any offers of money. But in the end, he consents to go along and lend a hand. Shortly after Jonas arrives, Suyin makes an attempt to use a mini-sub to descend and free the trapped crew. After promising Meiying (Shuya Sophia Cai), Suyin's young daughter, that he will bring her mother back safe and sound, Jonas leaves to follow her in order to assist. When a huge squid attacks Suyin as she is getting ready to tow the stuck sub back to the surface, she finds the sub quickly. The previous attacker, a 75-foot-long prehistoric shark known as a , kills the squid before it appears that her submarine will sustain damage. This shark is the same one that Jonas saw five years ago and nearly killed, demonstrating his sanity. Suyin is able to escape back to the surface after Jonas briefly diverts the shark's attention with some flairs. Lori and "The Wall" are successfully loaded onto his car. In order to save the others from the shark's subsequent attack, Toshi gives his life, stuffing "The Wall's" pocket with the farewell letter he had been writing to his wife earlier. While everyone else escapes to safety, Toshi is killed when the shark rams the second sub that has gone down. Later, Heller apologises to Jonas for making false claims. As a result of the sub's destruction, a brief pocket of heat has been allowed to vent upward, allowing the shark to move to more typical ocean waters, but the situation is still not over. Meiying is playing with an RC ball through the hallways as Jonas tries to flee and everyone else converses, but she is startled by the shark's sudden appearance. The shark kills a whale before giving up on trying to pierce the hull. They finally settle on using a small boat to track the shark and poison it to death. At first, they are able to track it by using Jonas to shoot the tracker onto its fin and then reel him back in, narrowly avoiding being eaten by the shark. Suyin then descends into a plastic tank to poison the shark while the others entice it with chum. This results in an intense encounter where the shark attempts to swallow the cage with her inside of it whole. Although she is successful in poisoning the shark, her mask malfunctions and she almost drowns. They nearly get eaten by a shark when Jonas dives in after her. Fortunately, the poison takes effect and kills the shark. Suyin is brought back aboard by Jonas, and they perform resuscitation on her.In the beginning, the crew celebrates by taking pictures of "The Wall" with the shark's corpse before he plunges into the water as a result of a joke from DJ. The shark, however, has smaller teeth than the one from earlier, as Jonas observes. This is obviously intended to be from a younger, smaller Megalodon that they killed. The boat capsizes as a result of "The Wall" being swallowed whole by the other, larger shark from earlier and the other Meg's corpse being grabbed off the boat with its teeth. Dr. Zhang is also seriously hurt. Heller sacrifices himself by diverting the shark's attention away from Jaxx when it turns around to try to eat him. As a result, Jaxx is devoured. Morris requests a support helicopter to shoot at the shark, successfully chasing it away, and the remaining crew members escape in motorboats. However, Dr. Zhang dies from his injuries in the boat before saying some tearful final words of pride to his daughter. Morris informs the crew later that evening that Mana One is being shut down and that the authorities in several Asian nations have been contacted to deal with the shark. However, it turns out he's lying through his teeth and actually requested some light military assistance to try and kill the shark on his own using depth charges dropped from the helicopter. He goes out on a boat with some other people, and it initially seems to work, but it turns out that they accidentally blew up and killed a whale instead, luring some nearby regular sharks (and later the Meg, who scares them off) to feast on its corpse. Morris is knocked off the boat that is trying to flee, and when he tries to climb the dead whale, a shark eats him whole. The crew learns that the shark is on its way to a popular beach in the area of China and decides to use whale noise recordings to entice the shark away from the beach before torpedoing it with the mini-subs. Prior to briefly terrorizing the locals at the beach, the shark first attacks a nearby Chinese wedding party on another boat and appears to eat the bride's dog Pippin. When it hears whale noises and eats the bait, it halts its attack. This starts a fierce chase between Jonas and the shark as he guides it to Suyin, who torpedoes it but to no avail. Jonas' torpedo won't launch, which is even worse. The fight is interrupted by a foolish collision between several news helicopters trying to film the action, and the ensuing wreckage crashes onto the team's boat, forcing everyone into the water. Suyin leaves to assist the others, and Jonas engages the shark head-on while desperately trying to protect everyone, slicing open the shark's underbelly with the sub. After the shark attempts to maul it, he exits the submarine and stabs it in the eye, killing it. Twelve common sharks move in to finish it off and devour it alive, putting an end to the danger. Everyone reassembles on the wedding couple's boat once the threat has passed, including Pippin the dog, who turned out to have survived. Since their romance was repeatedly alluded to earlier in the film, Jonas and Suyin are probably now a couple. The victory is celebrated by all parties, and the oceans are now secure as the film comes to a close.
