Pilot summary John wick 2014 ending movie explained
Keanu Reeves' character John Wick rams his SUV into a wall. He exits the car stumbling, covered in blood and injuries. He applies pressure to a gut wound. He pulls out his phone as he crouches to the side and watches a video of his wife Helen (Bridget Moynahan) enjoying herself on the beach. John crosses his legs and closes his eyes.
Several days prior.
On a gray day, John awakens. He experiences flashbacks of the time he spent with Helen before she recently passed away in his arms. She had a disease that ultimately took her life. She will be buried today. After the service, Marcus, an old friend of John's played by Willem Dafoe, comes up to him to express his condolences.
That evening, John receives a delivery. It's a tiny beagle. A letter from Helen is discovered by John. She wrote to him saying that she had accepted her own death and that she now wanted John to discover his. John cries. He leads the dog outside and examines its flower-adorned collar, which makes John realize Helen gave the dog the name Daisy.
John drives his Mustang while Daisy follows him. Three Russian mobsters, including Iosef Tarasov (Alfie Allen), the son of mob boss Viggo Tarasov (Michael Nyqvist), also stop to get gas at the same time as him. Iosef approaches John's car, compliments it, and then enquires as to how much he wants for it. According to John, it's not for sale. Iosef then insults John in Russian, thinking he won't understand; however, John disproves him by speaking in a low voice while speaking Russian. Iosef then tries to pet Daisy, but John frightens him off. John receives a good morning from one of Iosef's friends who peeks his head into the vehicle.
Daisy needs to use the restroom as John is getting ready for bed. When they descend the stairs, John is confronted by two shadowy men, one of whom swings a bat at him in the head. While Daisy whimpers, he starts hitting John. The dog's neck is broken by one of the men after he approaches the animal. Iosef is revealed when the man removes his mask, and he knocks John out. Later, John awakens and walks over to his dead puppy, giving her head a gentle stroke.
Iosef drives John's car to Aurelio's (John Leguizamo) store. Upon seeing the car, Aurelio asks Iosef where he got it. Iosef boasts about who he stole the car from and that he killed this person's dog. Iosef is struck in the face by Aurelio. Iosef storms out and announces that he will give the car to someone else. Aurelio gives John his name to confirm that Iosef is the person who stole his car and killed his dog when John later stops by the store to ask if he came by. Viggo calls Aurelio later that evening to inquire as to why he hit Iosef. Because he killed John Wick's dog and stole his car, claims Aurelio. Viggo simply responds, "Oh. ".
John, in the meantime, enters the basement with a sledgehammer and starts tearing the floor apart. A cache of weapons and gold coins are found by him.
Iosef and Viggo discuss the situation in Iosef's home. He gives his son two blows to the solar plexus to correct him and remind him of the victim of his recent crime. Iosef is informed by Viggo that John Wick once worked with him before he met Helen and decided to leave. John reportedly had a reputation as "The Boogeyman," or rather, as the person they called to kill the Boogeyman. To try to resolve the situation, Viggo calls John, but John hangs up on him.
That evening, Viggo sends a group of 12 hitmen to John's house to execute him. John kills all of them fairly quickly, squabbling with the last few before stabbing the last man in the heart. The door is knocked by a policeman. The officer responds in the affirmative when John introduces himself and asks if there has been a noise complaint. He refers to the body behind John and inquires as to whether John is back in the business. John claims that he is merely organizing some things. He receives the officer's best wishes before he departs.
To clean up the scene and dispose of the bodies, John calls in a cleanup crew with which he has previously done business. They appear to know that this is not the last time they will assist him.
Marcus, a friend of Wick's, is invited to a meeting by Viggo, who offers him a $2 million contract in exchange for killing Wick. Additionally, he gives the order to his assistant Avi (Dean Winters) to make calls to other potential candidates. Marcus happily agrees.
As he conducts business, John checks into the Continental Hotel in Lower Manhattan. Perkins, played by Adrianne Palicki, is recognized by him. Winston (Ian McShane), the manager and proprietor of the Continental, introduces himself to John and another old friend. When John inquires, Winston responds that Joseph is at a place called Red Circle.
John enters the nightclub where Iosef and his friends are having fun. Iosef is enjoying a night of champagne and women in a posh Russian bathhouse when John first kills one of his goons and enters the club's basement. As soon as they see John, he starts shooting at them, and Iosef flees. John takes out every hitman in his path, but Iosef escapes in a getaway car, and John loses track of him. One of Viggo's men stabbed John with a bottle in the club; he returns to the Continental to have the wound in his side stitched up. John is warned by the doctor that if he exerts himself, his stitches will come undone. John claims that the bourbon he had earlier ordered will take care of the painkiller portion of his recovery.
Marcus climbs to the roof of the structure across the street in the evening and focuses on John as he sleeps. He observes someone entering in the mirror. He takes a shot to alert John. This is Perkins. While he avoids her, she begins shooting at John. If she violates the hotel's rules and murders him, she claims that Viggo has increased the contract to $4 million. He struggles against Perkins until he puts her in a headlock and begs for information in exchange for mercy. She informs John that Viggo keeps the majority of his assets, including cash and evidence of blackmail, in a church's basement. For one of their organization's gold coins, John knocks Perkins out and leaves her with Harry (Clarke Peters), a business acquaintance.
Harry keeps Perkins restrained to a chair despite her thumb being dislocated so she can escape. She steps outside and covers Harry's face with a pillow before shooting him.
John visits Viggo's hidden cache of cash and business records at the church. John commands the priest to show him where the vault is after killing the other church guards. He dismisses the women in the vault and sets everything on fire.
Just before being hit by a hail of gunfire, Viggo finds out about the fire thanks to John. John is knocked to the ground when an SUV collides with another, killing most of Viggo's men but also knocking John out. When Viggo captures him, he questions why the man would risk so much to exact revenge on him for a dog and a car.
John explains to him that the dog was a present from his ailing wife that Iosef stole from him. Viggo is also told that he has two options: surrender Iosef to him or perish next to him. Viggo abandons him with his goons so they can suffocate him with a plastic bag. Marcus, who is observing from the next building, kills one hitman so that John can kill the other by shooting him in the head. The only person still alive after John shoots at Viggo's getaway vehicle is John. Iosef is shrouded in secrecy in a Brooklyn safe house, and Viggo is compelled to inform John of this.
Although there are armed men guarding the safe house, John kills them all anyway and storms the location. Iosef tries to flee once more, but John catches him and kills him.
Viggo sends his goons to find Marcus at his house in retaliation for Iosef's passing and for failing to kill John. They beat him there before Viggo and Perkins shot him to death. Just as he is about to board a helicopter to leave the city, Viggo calls John to inform him of this.
Winston, the proprietor of the Continental Hotel, calls Perkins to a meeting while he is still waiting for John to arrive at Marcus's house. At the Bethesda Arcade in Central Park, she meets Winston and four men. As a result of her violations of the Continental's rules, Winston informs her that she has lost her membership. She is put to death by the four men. The same cleaner who assisted John in removing the assassins' bodies from his home is waiting for Winston as he leaves, and she gives him several coins.
When John comes across Marcus's body, he leaves to kill Viggo. He spots the bad guys making their way to the helicopter and tries to hit them with his car. John accidentally runs Avi over with his car after Viggo orders Avi to kill him. Viggo tries to push John's car off the cliff, but John manages to escape without injury. The two then engage in a hand-to-hand struggle outside in the rain. Viggo attempts to stab John, but John pushes the blade into himself in order to break Viggo's arm. He then takes the knife from his stomach and stabs Viggo in the neck. He abandons him to perish.
Returning to the opening scene, John is still bleeding. He is motivated to continue after Helen and him watched the video. He enters a shelter for dogs and attends to his stab wound. The two of them travel home together after he brings a pit bull puppy along.
